The Nomads Badminton Club was formed by a group of friends in 2002 and has grown significantly of recent. The club has a membership with a range of abilities. Some have been playing all their lives... and that's a long time! some for a few years, others are returning after an absence and some have never played before.
The important thing is, they are all welcomed and make the club friendly and fun. The club has an ethos: Or: The three Fs - Fun, Fair & First The Nomads Badminton Club play on a Friday night at Pontypool Active Living Centre, South Wales and welcomes new members - Please contact the Nomads Badminton Club Chairman before you turn up as there might be a match or something else on and it would be horrible if you turned up and couldn't play. |
The club plays with feathered shuttles as they believe this offers players more control Having been entered in the Welsh Badminton Union Gwent league since the club's formation, and whilst not finishing at the top of table they can say that they had fun. The club is making a big effort this year to significantly improve its performance. The Welsh Badminton Union have been supportive and the club now has five trained coaches. The club has also commissioned Steve Jones to provide additional coaching at a higher level. There is a strong desire from both teams to WIN. The Nomads Badminton Club is currently looking for a new sponsor. Genesis Cleaning Services were the founding sponsor of the club and provided match shirts for the members. Sponsor's support is repaid through branding on match-shirts and inclusion in all Public Relations activities e.g. press releases, website etc... The Welsh Badminton Union has awarded the Nomads Badminton Club Bronze Accreditation - Nomads are the first club in Gwent to receive this accreditation and the third in Wales! |
